How to Get Involved
There are a number of ways to become involved with The Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland. The organization regularly seeks volunteers for its many programs, for administrative support in its office; and for its fundraising efforts, as well as to add a community voice to its Board of Directors. See below for links for potential opportunities.
Membership (download application)

Members are entitled to:
- Receive a copy of the annual report and newsletter
- Attend the Annual Meeting (AM), usually held in September of each year
- May run for election to the Board of Directors at the AM
- Receive notice of various events and agency news
All members must be 16 years of age or older, reside or work in Northumberland County, and support the objects of The Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland, as included in the membership application form.

- Join the Fundraising Committee
The Fundraising Committee for The Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland is composed of a mix of Board members and community volunteers. The committee meets throughout the year, as necessary, in preparation for fundraising events, such as our annual Empty Bowls Dinner & Auction, Golf Tournament, and yearly Christmas Appeal. Volunteers can help with certain events, or join the committee to help throughout the year.

Board of Directors
The Board of Directors is an 8 – 12 member group that governs The Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland and its two sister agencies, The Help Centre and the Northumberland Community Legal Centre.
Directors provide a vital service by offering a community voice to The Help and Legal Centre of Northumberland to help set its goals and priorities for client services and programs. Directors generally serve a two-year term and are elected annually at the Annual Meeting. To run for election, Board Directors must be members of the organization, be at least 16 years of age, and reside or work in Northumberland County.
